Reading List - April 2010 & Monday’s Hot Couple

I’m back and exhausted, lol! But we had a great time! :D
Today was back to business as usual and although a lot of work was waiting for me at the office I did manage to visit a lot of your blogs in between the boring tasks to catch up with all the, sometimes multiple, posts. I didn’t have time to leave comments though, but I will be back in the ‘comment saddle’ by tomorrow night the latest, I think :)

We had a wonderful long weekend, although I missed being online a lot ;) And Queen’s Day (or Koninginnedag as we call it) was one big exhausting party! I took some pictures but it rained part of the time, so there weren’t as many boats as usual in the canals. Here's a little visual impression:

Still, everyone was in a good mood and lots of music was played and we were having a good time until far after midnight, for three nights in a row. We stayed for the rest of the weekend to meet with some other friends, have dinner with them, go out dancing and to the Casino and do some shopping.

And I bought me some ‘real’ books, that is, not of the digital kind but of the dead tree type. I know, it’s a shock! ;) I had these gift certificates, so I was looking for some English paperbacks to spend them on, and I stumbled upon the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and Soulless by Gail Carriger in the biggest bookshop of Utrecht. I must say that I’ve never seen any of these books before in our local bookstore, so it was a surprise to find those authors. Look at them, being pretty on my desk!

Hubby looked at the Night Huntress covers and asked ‘Are those the smutty kind of books too?’, and me ‘No, *g* eh, maybe, why?’ and he, looking at the covers again ‘That’s one hell of a good looking chic!’ I couldn’t help laughing and teasing him with ‘So, you want them to be smutty!’.

Which reminds me, I have to wrap up my April smut reading month. Here’s my reading list:

It’s a total of 20 titles, but a lot of them are shorts and novella’s. Not a single 5 star rate this month, but still a good average and I enjoyed all the stories.
I hope you all had a great month too!

  1. Girl girl girl... you sure know how to have a good time, even in the rain! Your weekend sounds absolutely delightful!!!!

Hubby makes me laugh!!! Tell him if it smut he wants... **Evil grin** we can give him smut, lol!!!

I hope you had a great Monday and a wonderful tomorrow honey!

  2. Glad you had such a fun, if exhausting time. Having fun can leave you worn out. :-)

Seems like you had a good reading month. Hopefully May will be rewarding as well.

  3. @Cecile: LOL! I'm not sure if I want to share my smutty books with hubs *grin* Or weren't you talking about the books? *wink*

@Tam: That's so true, about the worn out thing :) Having fun should come with a warning *g*
Yep, April wasn't a bad month and if May will continue like it started (with an average of one book a day) it will be okay too ;) Of course, it's nothing compared to your sum of books, lol!

  4. Now you got the idea hon, lmbo!!! My mind is in the gutter today and it is only Monday... watch out for the rest of the week!! LMBO!!!!

Hubby would die if he knew what we talked about!! Especially when it involved him!!!

  5. @Cecile: ROFL! That's going to be some week for you, hon, with your mind in the gutter already, lol!!
Don't know what hubby would think of this, I'm definitely not going to tell him, that's for sure! ;)
    Have a great week, sweetie!!

  6. Yea... better to not tell him! lol!!!!
Love hon! Thanks for the giggles this Monday!!!

But maybe leaving smut out for him to read is not a bad idea... maybe highlight some passages, lmbo!

  7. @Cecile: *grin* I might consider that, but only smut that I've read myself first ;) I don't want him to stumble on some m/m scene without warning, lol!
I'm off to bed now, you too thanks for the giggles, hon! :)

  8. Sounds like he prefers those m/f covers, huh? ;)

I know how to get you going on some 5-star reads this month - start reading Cheating Chance. :)

  9. Glad you guys had a great time. Lol on you husband and the book cover. :)

Looks like you had a really good reading month. I agree with Chris, read Cheating Chance!

  10. Greta haul! I am sure you will love Soulless :D

Love coming to a bigger bookstore, it makes me happy..well more like euphoric.

  11. Queen's Day was utterly boring in my part of the netherlands and hubby had to work on a privet job too so there wasn't much chance to go somewhere :( Did you spend the whole day in Utrecht, by that pic only seems like it is a blast to spend the day there :) And then to find these books, our local bookstore carries some English novels but mostly fantasy and thrillers :( I had a chat with manager there once but for them to sell erotica or romance would mean that they would go between prices of 9-17 euro o-0 I told him I would forego on the books with such prices, long live the internet bookstores. or else I would have a meager TBR pile LOL

Girl, you've had one incredible reading month...20 books, even if most are just novella's and shorts I think I've read a total of...*counting in my mind* 7 full length novels. I hope May is an equal or better motnh for you hon!

@Chris - I now have to look up Cheating Chance LOL

  12. Hey! I got a nifty 3.75!! That rocks.

Plus pretty pictures. Sigh. Looks lovely there, hon. Welcome home.

  13. congrats on the great weekend. I agree with Mia... looks nice (almost as nice as Vancouver Island, snicker, wink wink)

Sorry Centrefold didn't enthrall you more, but here's hoping you find a great read for May. Have a great week.

  14. You are going to love Bones :)

I need to read the Bay Paranormal series, just finished Lotus in the Wild so I'm coming off my Viking man love high.

  15. @Chris: LOL!
I'm very compliant when it comes to your rec's so Cheating Chance it is! :)

    @Lily: We did, *grin*!
Let's see if Cheating Chance will be a 5 stars read for me than :)

@Blodeuedd: You think Soulless will be my cup of fiction, hon? I'm the same at large bookstores, lol!

@Leontine: Sorry to hear your QD was so boring, sweets! We could've met in Utrecht if I'd known. We stayed in Utrecht from Thursday until Sunday and those pics are from Thursday night (Koninginnenacht) and Friday (Koninginnedag).
Your bookstore is the same as our local bookstore, not much books in the English department, mainly some bestsellers and thrillers. Ah well, I like ebooks better anyway and for those that aren't available in ebook format we have the Book Depository, right? ;)

@Mia: LOL! Your a nifty lady, who deserves nifty ratings ;)
Thanks, it's always good to be home again! :)

@Kris: Thanks :) Now I'm very curious about Vancouver Island! Maybe we have to spend our next summer vacation there!
Ah well, maybe one of the two books you so kindly sent me will be a 'great May read' :) And I DID like Centrefold, it was just too short to completely enthrall me. The plot felt not round enough for that. But the smexing was totally hot, no complaints there! ;) Thanks again for letting me taste your work - it definitely tastes like more. :D

  16. @KC: I better love Bones, because I bought these books thanks to you *points finger* Lol!
Oh those Viking men are calling me too :)
And yeah, you should definitely read the CB Paranormal Investigation series! I was thinking your next Friday Man Love Night? ;)

  17. Janna: I don't think you'll regret it for a minute. :)

  18. @Chris: :D I'm stuck in this boring Dutch book now that I have to read for work, but right after that I'll start reading CC! :)

  19. Sounds like you had fun, yay! I love your DTBs, looking very pretty on the desk!

  20. OOOHH - sounds like you had a great weekend! I can't wait for your reviews of these books since they're all books I'm curious about. :D

  21. @Amora: Yep, the DTB's do look pretty and I like that I can touch them every now and then. That's more difficult with ebooks ;)

@Bronwyn: It was pretty great! :) I don't know if I'll write reviews of all these books, but I plan to do one on Her Vampire Husband and Ally Blue's CBPI series for sure. :D

  22. This is a very informative blog, not to mention providing a great listing of reads in this genre. I'll mention this to my own Yahoo Group Erotic Romance Workshop --

    Collette Thomas

  23. I'm so glad you had fun and enjoyed your weekend! Tell hubby a belated happy birthday from me. :)

I really liked the first 2 Night Huntress books. The 3rd not as well and haven't gotten to the 4th yet. I can't wait to see what you think. :)

  24. Looks like you had a wonderful time - thanks for sharing your pictures! And how lucky that you found those books - they're all faves of mine...Hubs will be very happy you picked them up *winks*.

Nice reading month - I haven't read anything by Shawn Lane yet but I really want to...

  25. I'm glad that you had a lovely time, and that you have some pretties (abet dead tree ones :) to read. And a great April reading list IMO!

  26. @Collette Thomas: Thank you so much! I'll come over to check out your site :)

@Tracy: I did and thanks from hubby, hon! When I finally get to the Night Huntress books I'll try to read them all four in a row. If nothing else will come up ;)

@Patti: LOL, yeah hubs didn't seem to mind that I picked up these books ;)
You def should give Shawn Lane a try, so far I really liked her novellas and I think you will too!

@orannia: Thank you, honey! The advantage of dead tree books over ebooks is them looking so pretty and all :)
